Partials and Dentures in Tacoma, WA
While the most common reason for complete tooth loss remains gum disease, other circumstances like traumatic injuries and accidents, or medical problems can lead to tooth loss as well. No matter how you have lost your teeth, we understand just how devastating it can be. At Tacoma Family Dentistry & TMJ/Sleep Apnea Centre, we are proud to offer amazing replacement options like partials and dentures in Tacoma, WA—regain your confidence and your ability to smile.
About Complete Dentures
Complete dentures act as a replacement for a full set of missing teeth. These highly customizable, natural-looking oral prosthetic devices are individually crafted to fit your mouth and smile. The false teeth are affixed to a base that matches your gums, so the final look is realistic. If you have lost all of your teeth, consider a set of complete dentures.
Complete dentures are supported and held in place by your gum tissue, and they are removable. Complete dentures can be divided into two groups: conventional complete dentures and immediate complete dentures.
Conventional dentures can be fitted for use anyway between two and three months following the removal of all of your natural teeth. Once the gums have healed in entirety, conventional dentures are ready to be worn.
Immediate dentures can be sported immediately following the loss of all your teeth, bypassing the waiting period of gum healing. While this sounds like the better option, do keep in mind that after losing your teeth, your gums will shift in size and shape as they heal, and your immediate dentures may not feel as comfortable in a couple of months.
About Partial Dentures
Partial dentures differ from complete dentures in two ways—they are not always totally removable, as some are meant to be fixed, and partials will adequately replace a few missing teeth, but not all. The missing teeth need not be consecutive, or all next to each other. Partial dentures are often attached to surgically placed dental implants or healthy natural teeth that remain.
At Tacoma Family Dentistry & TMJ/Sleep Apnea Centre, we want to make sure our patients feel comfortable and confident about wearing dentures and partials.
